The First Steering Committee Meeting of CIHEAM’s MEDIET Project

Dr. Nahla Hwalla, Professor at the Nutrition and Food Sciences Department, participated in the first steering committee meeting of CIHEAM’s MEDIET Project: Sustainable and Resilient Food Systems in the Mediterranean Area on May 25 at the headquarters of CIHEAM in Bari, Italy.

In partnership with Lebanon, Albania, and Tunisia, the MEDIET project is expected to support the governments of the Mediterranean area in the formulation and promotion of long-term strategy sustainable food policies, dietary guidelines, and food safety measures.

Dr. Nahla presented the extensive national research that was conducted and published recently in that field. She also shared information about Lebanon’s background and its current crisis-ridden state with various project partners and reviewed the work plan, budget, and project implementation modalities.
