Sarah Saddler is a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in the Center for Arts and Humanities at the American University of Beirut. Her primary research focuses on applied theatre for corporate development in South Asia and the Middle East. She holds a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota's Theatre Historiography program, where she taught courses in theatre arts and global studies and worked as an arts educator in the Twin Cities public school system. Other research interests include theatre for social change praxis and theory, postcolonial drama, and intersections of performance and the transnational creative economy. Past research fellowships include residencies at Institutes of Advanced Study at the University of Minnesota and the Indian Institute of Science. Sarah’s book-in-progress provides a critical ethnography of corporate theatre training in post-IT-Revolution India which demonstrates how corporations are using art in the service of human capital formation and examine the broader implications of corporate theatre on artistic labor and praxis in 21st-century creative capitalism.
