Hosn Abboud is a lecturer at the American University in Beirut, pursuing research on women issues and interpretation of the Qur'an, modern Arabic feminist writings, Islamic feminism, and women's role in dialogue and peace. She published her PhD thesis on Mary in the Qur'an in both Arabic (Dar al-Saqi 2010) and English (Routeldge 2014). She regularly publishes articles in refereed and non-refereed journals, and lectures in many European and Arab universities, including Germany (University of Leipzig and Goettingen University), Canada (University of Toronto), Morocco (The Rabita of Muhammadan Scholars and Believers without Borders Institutes), Tunisia (Qairawan University, Faculty of Literature) and Egypt (Alexandria Library).
Hosn Abboud is a member of the Lebanese Association of Women Researchers (Bahithat), co-founder of "The Path of Mary", an inter-faith dialogue movement, and a member of the Beirut Ethics Colloquia.
She successfully lobbied the municipality of Beirut (2010) to rehabilitate the public staircase in her neighborhood to overcome a pollution issue and to help ease traffic in public space.
She is married to Sadek Sawaf and has three children.
