  Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut is a teaching-centered research university based on the American liberal arts model of higher education. AUB has over 8,000 students and 800 faculty members. The University encourages freedom of thought and expression and seeks to graduate men and women committed to creative and critical thinking, lifelong learning, personal integrity, civic responsibility, and leadership.

AUB offers more than 130 programs leading to bachelor's, master's, MD, and PhD degrees. The main language of instruction is English.

Tarif Bazzi

Currently a part-time lecturer at the Department of Arabic and N.E.L. AUB graduate (B.A. 1967, M.A. 1970, Ph.D.1991).

Started teaching at AUB in 1968 as graduate assistant, then as instructor (Part-time then full-time) and finally as assistant professor (1991-1993).

In 1993, he joined LAU (BUC at that time) where he taught for more than twenty years. His fields of interest are Arabic Rhetoric and Prosody, Ancient Arabic Literature, Translation and teaching Arabic for non-Arabic Speaking Students.
