!أهلاً وسهلاً ومرحباً بكمWe would like to welcome you to the American University of Beirut CAMES Arabic summer program pages and invite you to browse and learn about the exciting programs we offer.
The goal of the CAMES Arabic summer program is to provide students at all levels with opportunities to immerse themselves in the language and culture both inside and outside the classroom within an intensive setting. Among the defining features of the program are the following:
- A rich, diverse language and culture learning environment in the city of Beirut, one of the most dynamic and vibrant cities in the Arab world
- A proficiency-based curriculum that emphasizes all skills and integrates the different varieties of Arabic based on communicative tasks, goals, and contexts
- A learner-centered environment in which learners are considered as partners who take responsibility for their own learning
- A dynamic and experienced instructional team that includes teachers from AUB and abroad who are trained in the latest theories and practices of language pedagogy
- A rich extracurricular program that features lectures, films, trips, and volunteer activities in some of Beirut's NGO's
- Learning support outside the classroom via the tutors and conversation partners who help cater to the individual needs of students in the program
- Administrative support and counseling to help participants get the most out of their learning experience at AUB and their cultural immersion in Lebanon
When we welcome guests in Arabic, we say

Our collective goal as program faculty and administration is to make the summer Arabic experience in Lebanon a most memorable one for each and every program participant.
