  Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut is a teaching-centered research university based on the American liberal arts model of higher education. AUB has over 8,000 students and 800 faculty members. Professor Pierre Karam was selected by the World Economic Forum as one of the 50 extraordinary scientists under the age of 40 for contributions to advancing the frontiers of science, engineering and technology.

Professor Karam joins the Young Scientists community and will convene with 2,000 industry leaders, chief executives of top-ranked multinationals, heads of state/government and ministers at the 12th Annual Meeting of the New Champions in China.
