​The Department of Computer Science at the American University of Beirut prepares students for advanced studies and professional careers in the dynamically changing world of computing and information technology. Our programs combine the theoretical foundations of computing with the practical knowledge of software development vital to industry and provide a broad and integrated curriculum.

​News and Events​

  • The computer science student team composed of Antoine Zouein, Rayan Halal and Remi Sabaa (Coach: Dr. Mohamad Jaber), won the Bonze medalist in the ACM Arab & Africa Collegiate Programming Competition (ACPC) 2018 which was held on Sunday Nov. 11, 2018 in sharm el sheikh, Egypt beating out 130 teams from top teams of Arab and African universities. ACPC is a qualifying round for the ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) World Finals! For the second time in the competition history a Lebanese team qualifies to the World Finals!

  • The 2019 ICPC International Collegiate Programming Contest World Finals will be in Porto, Portugal, hosted by the University of Porto and the City of Porto on April 4, 2019.​

  • The Department of Computer Science is pleased to announce the launching of the Non-Thesis Course-based Master's in Computer Science. Prospective students and working professionals are now welcome to apply!

  • The Computer Science Department and the Computer Science Alumni Chapter (CSAC) celebrated the 32nd anniversary of the CMPS program with a MEGA 3 reunion event.​ The event included an Iftar and fantastic live entertainment right on the Green Oval.

    The fund-raising effort that accompanied the MEGA 3 Reunion is part of the BOLDLY AUB Campaign that has been launched in 2017. It is aimed at contributing to the CSAC Scholarship Fund that has been established at AUB in the wake of previous years MEGA Reunion events, thanks to the continuous support. The fund will provide scholarships to deserving computer science students. ​​​​
