Ramzi Mabsout

I joined AUB in 2011 as assistant professor of economics. In 2015/16 I held the chair of the department. I earned an MA in development economics from the University of Sussex (2004) and a PhD in 2011 from Radboud University Nijmegen. The doctoral thesis, titled The Capability Approach: From Ethical Foundations to Empirical Operationalization, was supervised by professors Irene Van Staveren and Esther-Mirjam Sent .

As a consultant, I work with international organizations (UNDP, ILO, ESCWA) and NGOs (Transparency International), contributing to local and global reports, including the Human Development Report.

Research interests

My research interests include development and welfare economics; policy and ethics in economics; methodology and the history of economic thought; the philosophy of decision making and reasoning in economics.
