Casto Martin Montero Kuscevic is Assistant Professor of Economics at the American University of Beirut. He received his Ph.D. from West Virginia University in 2011. His primary research interest includes macroeconomics, regional economics, and applied spatial econometrics; however, he is also interested in other fields such as political economy and Austrian economics. His work has been published in the Journal of Economic Issues, Annals of Regional Sciences, and History of Political Economy among other academic journals. Professor Montero has taught macroeconomics and monetary economics at the principle, intermediate and graduate levels.
Dr. Montero keeps a strong tie to Bolivia (his home country), both as an opinion writer and as academic; contributing with research, teaching, and service to several institutions. In 2010 and 2014 he obtained the Best Paper Award in the yearly Economics Research Conference organized and sponsored by the Bolivian Central Bank.
