Rula Baalbaki, Instructor
MA (AUB), BA (AUB);
Rula Baalbaki got her BA in English and MA in TEFL from AUB. She taught and coordinated ESL and writing courses at the Department of English and acted as head of Communication Skills for 3 years.
She currently teaches writing and translation courses at the Department of English and writes and translates literature as a freelancer. She translated three literary works from the Arabic (published) and a number of Arabic poems for literary magazines and stage productions. She is currently working on a translation project which seeks to establish the place of a trans-lingual component in writing courses. Among her AUB -community projects are: teaching an ESL course to the protection office guards, founding the AUB student Book Club, advising the AUB Animal Welfare Club, and co-organizing the FAS celebration of AUB’s 150th anniversary .Her off- campus activities include NGO work for supporting conversational English at Lebanese public schools, teaching creative writing courses to Bosnian students at the University of Tusla, Bosnia, and teaching creative Arabic writing to juveniles at Rumieh Prison, Lebanon. She is currently engaged in a creative non-fiction project, supervising the translation of popular Arabic lyrics into English for stage production, and working on a proposal for starting a Translation Studies major at the Department of English.
