Rayya Badran is a writer, translator, and educator based in Beirut. She earned her MA in Aural and Visual Cultures from Goldsmiths College, London in 2008. Her research interests span the sonic performativity of radio, song, and the voice. Her writing and translated work have featured in various local and international publications including Portal 9, Free Berlin, ArtNews, Ibraaz, Bidoun, and more.
She is currently a guest editor of The Derivative, a publication launched by the Beirut Art Center and has a bi-monthly show on Radio al Hara. She has been teaching at the American University of Beirut since 2014.
