The Music Program offers an extensive array of courses that provide opportunities to explore music history, theory and performance in both Western and Arabic music.
AUB Musical Ensembles
- The AUB Choir – Offered for credit, this group performs primarily classical music, but have also included folk music from many cultures and traditions. The lion’s share of the repertoire of the AUB Choir consists of choral-orchestral masterworks from all eras. Recent performances include Franz Joseph Haydn’s Missa in tempore belli, Gustav Holst’s Hymns from the Rig Veda, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem.
- The AUB Choral Society – This group is comprised of faculty, staff and community members. The Choral Society combines with the AUB Choir in two major performances each year.
- Ensemble Polyphonica – An advanced group of both students and community members, Ensemble Polyphonica focuses on masterworks for chamber choir. Recent performances include Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols, Arvo Pärt’s Stabat Mater, and Einojuhani Rautavaara’s Suite de Lorca.
- The AUB Arabic Music Ensemble – A brand new ensemble that will feature students and community members. This group will explore the rich musical heritage of all of Arabia.
