Dr. Moussa Mohammadian Awarded International Grant for Science-Engaged Research in Philosophy of Religion
Dr. Mousa Mohammadian (Department of Philosophy) has been awarded a research grant for the project The Nature of Conceptual Coherence in Religious Thought: Ontology, Ritual, and Meaning, which he leads together with Dr. Tamer Amin (Department of Education). The project is funded through the Global Philosophy of Religion Project 2, supported by the Birmingham Centre for Philosophy of Religion at the University of Birmingham and the John Templeton Foundation.
The project was funded under the Global Philosophy of Religion Project’s Science-Engaged Research program, which supports interdisciplinary collaborations between philosophers and empirical scientists working on fundamental questions concerning religion, meaning, and human flourishing. Bringing together expertise in philosophy, psychology, and cognitive science, the project investigates how religious experts across Lebanon’s diverse faith communities understand and evaluate the coherence of religious thought.
The project team includes Dr. Mousa Mohammadian, Dr. Tamer Amin, Dr. Maliki Ghossainy (Boston University), Ms. Zainab Sabra (Department of Philosophy), and Ms. Julia Ganama as the project coordinator.
Fellowships
Senior Fellowship at the Descartes Centre for the History and Philosophy of the Sciences and the Humanities at Utrecht University
Congratulations to Dr. Moussa Mohammadian for being awarded a Senior Fellowship at the Descartes Centre for the History and Philosophy of the Sciences and the Humanities at Utrecht University. Dr. Mohammadian will spend the Fall term of 2026 as a Senior Fellow at the Centre.
The Descartes Centre is one of Europe’s leading research institutes in the history and philosophy of science. During his fellowship, Dr. Mohammadian will continue his research on the history of twentieth-century philosophy of science, with a particular focus on the reception of C. S. Peirce’s philosophy by early logical empiricists. The fellowship will provide opportunities for collaboration with scholars at Utrecht University and contribute to the development of his ongoing book project on the relationship between Peirce and early logical empiricism.
