SMEC 25 Conference



We are happy to announce the SMEC 25 conference that will take place online on March 2 and March 3, 2024. The event is an open event, no registration is required.

The theme of this year's conference is “Innovative Practices to Bridge Language and Learning in Science and Mathematics".

Kindly find attached the program of the conference. We have two plenary sessions that will take place on Saturday, March 2. The title of the first plenary session is “ATTENDING TO LANGUAGE AND LEARNING MATHEMATICS: A FRAMEWORK FOR ACADEMIC LITERACY IN MATHEMATICS", and it will take place at 9:00 AM. Presenter: DR. JUDIT MOSCHKOVICH, Education Department University of California, Santa Cruz, US. The title of the second plenary session is “INTEGRATING SCIENCE AND LANGUAGE FOR ALL STUDENTS, INCLUDING MULTILINGUAL LEARNERS", and it will take place at 10:15 AM. Presenter: DR. OKHEE LEE, Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, New York University, US. We encourage you to attend the two plenary sessions since these sessions will be presented by international researchers and will address issues related to the main theme of the conference.

In addition to the two plenary sessions, there are concurrent sessions that are either classified as two hours developmental workshops, 75 minutes innovative ideas, or 30 minute research sessions . These sessions will take place between 11:30 am– 1:30 pm on Saturday. The sessions on Sunday will be concurrent and will take place between 10:00 am – 12:00 pm.

For further information about the sessions, you can refer to the program in the attached file. Please note that the timings of the sessions follow Lebanon time, so you might need to check the relative time accordingly.
