UPP is a high-intensity English Language program that provides undergraduate and graduate students with the opportunity to become regular AUB students and to take control of their own learning under the guidance of their instructors. Students are encouraged to react, think critically, share ideas, and negotiate meaning in a supportive and motivating environment.
The program provides a total of 25 contact hours of instruction per week. This includes instruction in English language, mathematics and science, depending on the students’ proficiency levels and learning needs. Instruction follows an integrated student-centered approach to teaching the language skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) as well as science and mathematics. Furthermore, the UPP curriculum incorporates study skills, cultural awareness, pronunciation training, conversational English, computer literacy, and preparation for the critical reading and reasoning part of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) for those students who wish to sit for it.
