The Environmental Health curriculum provides a broad education in basic sciences and a fundamental knowledge of various disciplines within environmental health, namely water quality and management, solid and liquid waste management, occupational health and safety, toxicology, indoor and outdoor air quality, and environmental assessment and management. Emphasis is placed on evaluation and control of major environmental health problems in Lebanon and the region as well as an exposure to global environmental health challenges.
The program also provides students with insights and skills into the application of environmental health principles to real-world problems through an internship and a number of community projects and field visits to selected sites including environmental reserves, water and wastewater treatment plants, food industry and food service establishments, landfills and others. In addition to the core program, students have the opportunity to choose from a variety of interesting electives. In fact, AUB’s course distributional requirements ensure a well-rounded educational experience, including courses in languages, humanities, social sciences, and sciences, math, and technology.
Students may also choose from a wide number of minors, including a minor in Public Health , and
minor in
Environmental Health.
