The Graduate Public Health Program (GPHP) at FHS provides advanced training in public health to prepare professionals, both practitioners and academicians, to competently assess, research, and respond to the health needs and public health issues in Lebanon and the region. The program applies multidisciplinary and community-based research as well as community service to improve instruction, to advance knowledge, and to address the public health issues and needs of the population served.
The GPHP at FHS was accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH), a US accrediting body, in 2006 and was reaccredited in 2012 for 7 years.
The GPHP is the first public health program outside of the Americas to be accredited by CEPH, and is the only CEPH-accredited program in the Arab world.
The GPHP at FHS aims to provide quality education in public health, undertake innovative and relevant research in public health, advance evidence-based public health practice in Lebanon and region, enhance the return of public health practice into the graduate public health academic programs, ensure adequate resources, maintain a qualified and diverse GPHP faculty and staff, maintain a qualified and diverse student body, encourage students to participate actively in the GPHP’s decision making, and create a culture of continuous improvement of the GPHP overall effort.
