Ms. Aoun completed a doctorate degree in public health and development from Atlanta International University, a Master of Science degree in population studies, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Health from the Faculty of Health Sciences at the American University of Beirut. She also completed many advanced courses like in epidemiology, in leadership, and in emergency preparedness and humanitarian settings. She has twenty-five years of experience in planning, executing, monitoring and evaluating community projects bridging public health and development, based on needs assessments, community respect, community participation, and right-based approaches. She has contributed to the development of the school health program in the Ministry of Education in Lebanon and other Arab countries. She is member of the international campaign to ban landmines and of the coalition against cluster munitions and contributed to the development of mine action centers and mine action strategies, standards, and curricula in Lebanon and different Arab countries. She has worked on issues related to children, youth, and the elderly. She has also been involved in projects on gender and disability, gender auditing, women's economic empowerment, disability, elimination of the worst forms of child labor, illiteracy eradication and adult learning, and education in emergency. She has also worked on the humanitarian response to the Syrian crisis, to the Covid-19 crisis, to the Cholera crisis, and to other humanitarian crisis in the Arab region. She has worked on risk communication and community engagement, on health promotion including WASH and hygiene promotion, on ethical issues in community practice, and all issues related to development and social determinants of health with an emphasis on promoting roles of municipalities in local development and public health. Work involves production of training manuals, guidelines, and training materials.
Ms. Aoun is currently the director of SOUKELGHARB Campus of the University of Balamand. She is also the director of the Community Engagement Department at the Faculty of health Sciences of the University of Balamand. She is the Secretary General of AlFarah Social Foundation.
