Trends, wealth inequalities and the role of the private sector in caesarean section in the Middle East and North Africa

This study explores the prevalence of caesarean section in the Arab region. The study used data from household surveys in the region and revealed an overall increase in caesarean section over time, except in Jordan.  The increase in caesarean section was found to be related to household wealth index and the type of health facility. This study highlights the need to act to reduce non-necessary caesarean sections in the Arab region.​
