CPHP, the Center for Public Health Practice, at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) – AUB, is currently engaged in a project to strengthen the enabling environment for youth policy and youth development in Lebanon. It aims to enhance the roles of the Ministry of Youth & Sport and Youth Forum to progress priorities for youth and National Youth Policy and to enhance co-operation, governance and accountability in relation to the National Youth Policy and priorities for youth in Lebanon. The process started by initial consultations with concerned stakeholders to redefine the mission and vision of the Youth Forum in Lebanon. In parallel, regional dialogue with youth is conducted in an effort to identify Youth priorities and later align all activities accordingly.
The next phases will focus on building organizational and institutional capacities, developing tools, mechanisms and strategies for advocacy, as well as establishing a tested model for governance and accountability.
The “Technical Assistance to Support Youth Development in Lebanon” is a 24 months project, started in July 2016, and funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the British Council in collaboration with the American University of Beirut.
This project involves working with Ministry of Youth and Sport (MoY&S), Youth Parliamentary Committee and other Ministries with the potential to play leadership roles in relation to youth, as well as with the Youth Forum (YF) to develop their operational and strategic capacities so that they can take a dual approach to youth development.
