  Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut is a teaching-centered research university based on the American liberal arts model of higher education. AUB has over 8,000 students and 800 faculty members. The University encourages freedom of thought and expression and seeks to graduate men and women committed to creative and critical thinking, lifelong learning, personal integrity, civic responsibility, and leadership.

  AUB is accredited in the US by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and includes six faculties: Arts and Sciences, Medicine, Engineering and Architecture, Agricultural and Food Sciences, Health Sciences, and Business. AUB offers more than 130 programs leading to bachelor's, master's, MD, and PhD degrees. The main language of instruction is English.

Chairperson’s Welcome Message

Anesthesiology is a dynamic and evolving landscape. The specialty is getting evermore challenging and demanding and the scope of practice is expanding. The mission of the department of Anesthesiology at the American University of Beirut is to deliver a wide range of world-class clinical services, to accommodate innovation in all fields of modern anesthesiology, to provide outstanding undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and to foster innovative research. But first and foremost, we place patients at the center of our practice, providing them with answers, comfort, support, and the best medical services we can master. Our team is made up of top-notch anesthesiologists with diverse subspecialty training backgrounds including expertise in cardiac anesthesiology and transesophageal echocardiography, neuroanesthesiology, pediatric anesthesiology, obstetrical anesthesiology, regional anesthesia, and pain medicine.
