  Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut is a teaching-centered research university based on the American liberal arts model of higher education. AUB has over 8,000 students and 800 faculty members. The University encourages freedom of thought and expression and seeks to graduate men and women committed to creative and critical thinking, lifelong learning, personal integrity, civic responsibility, and leadership.

AUB offers more than 130 programs leading to bachelor's, master's, MD, and PhD degrees. The main language of instruction is English.

The annual meeting, held on January 19, served as a platform to showcase research updates on different research topics ongoing at the CIDR including viral infections, bacterial infections, fungal infections, microbiome, diagnostic technologies, immunology and host responses, vaccines and immunization, bioinformatics, epidemiology, and public health, including our ongoing collaborations with the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) and the World Health Organization (WHO) where their teams were in attendance.

Together, we explored breakthroughs and innovative ideas, shared knowledge and successful collaborative work, and strengthened our commitment to advancing infectious diseases research within our academic community.
