Dr.
Assi joined AUBMC in 2014 and has been an active member of the
Biomedical IRB committee and the Fellowship and Residency Research
program. Since his joining AUBMC, Dr. Assi has established his career
and subspecialty in Breast, Lung, CNS, Skin Cancer, and Sarcomas. He was
appointed as the Director for Specialty Clinics and Clinical Services
for the Naef K. Basile Cancer Institute in October 2017, and was also
appointed as an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine since 2018. Dr.
Assi graduated with a Medical Doctor Degree from the Lebanese
University in 1998. He completed his fellowship in Hematology-Oncology
in 2004 at the Institut Gustave Roussy and Paris XI University after
which he received a grant from the same institution to complete 1 year
in Translational and Clinical Cancer Research. He also holds a Master’s
Degree in Medical and Biological Sciences from the University of Paris
XI. Dr. Assi later joined Dalhousie University and Horizon Health
Network in Canada where he was appointed as Assistant Professor in
Hematology Oncology. He occupied the position of Chief of Hematology
Oncology and later he became the Medical Director for the Internal
Medicine Program. Dr. Assi is an accomplished physician and investigator
recognized for his clinical and research work. He has several
publications in international peer reviewed journals (over 50 articles
and abstracts). His research interests include solid tumors, mostly
Breast, Lung, CNS, and Rare cancers with several publications and have
so far participated in over than 100 clinical trials. In addition, he
has been heavily involved in medical education and was awarded teacher
of the year in 2018.
