 eLearning Capacity Building

The Family Medicine Department at AUBMC, in collaboration with the World Health Organization, is training healthcare providers on how to deliver eLearning professional development programs.

 

The goal of the workshop is to leverage the eLearning skills of physicians and establish eLearning platforms in Lebanon and the Eastern Mediterranean region. During the workshop, participants are trained on how to develop, customize and facilitate eLearning courses.

The workshop spans over four consecutive days. The major themes covered include:

  • Designing and creating blended learning modules
  • Experiencing eLearning as both students and facilitators
  • Defining an action plan for implementing the eLearning course
  • Defining selection and recruitment plans for students
  • Administering Moodle as a Learning Management System
  • The workshop includes an optional track to train IT staff on hosting, administering and maintaining a Learning Management System.

Workshop Instructors:

Dr. Ghassan Hamadeh: Chair of Family Medicine and Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC). He is the President of the Arab Board of Family Medicine and is American board certified in both Family Medicine and Clinical Informatics.

Dr. Mona Osman: Instructor of Clinical Family Medicine, the Medical Director of the Family Medicine Clinics, and the coordinator of community and outreach activities in the Department of Family Medicine at the American University of Beirut Medical Center (AUBMC). She is the co-director of the Refugee Health Program at the American University of Beirut (AUB).

Mr. Hossein Hamam: Educational project manager with extensive experience designing and implementing e-learning projects at the post-secondary level. His research interests include instructional systems that support adult education and lifelong learning.
