Since the establishment of the BSU unit, its objectives and goals have been as follows:

• Provide support and consultancy to researchers on study designs and methodology, specifically sample size calculation and statistical analysis (data cleaning, management, and analysis), and interpretation/reporting of results.

• Contribute to the academic and educational activities at the CRI through programs, the FRRP and FAP programs, and workshops such as the “Statistics Made Easy” workshops.​

Since its initiation, the BSU team has supported more than 680 research projects, collaborating with around 322 principal investigators, with approximately 437 of these projects published in peer-reviewed journals. ​

• Proposal development (study design, data collection tools, sample size calculation, data analyses plan, and other proposal related issues)

• Data analyses (interim analyses, data management, data cleaning, descriptive analyses, other analysis-related issues)

• Manuscript preparation (tabulating results and graphic representation, write up of statistical analyses section, summarizing results, replying to the journal's editorial review, addressing reviewers' comments, other publication-related issues)

Starting in 2011, the BSU has provided services for more than 362  investigators. Consultancy and analyses were provided to more than 600 projects over the past 14 years, covering a wide range of complexity and required expertise. ​
