2025 REU Program Wrap-Up: A Year of Dynamic Learning and Collaboration

We are excited to share that this year’s Research Education Unit (REU) program was organized into carefully crafted thematic sessions, providing participants with a rich and diverse learning experience tailored to meet evolving research needs.

We kicked off the year with our foundational online workshops—Statistics Made Easy and REDCap—designed to equip researchers with essential quantitative skills and data management expertise. Building on this, we hosted an in-person workshop on Designing Search Strategies for Systematic Reviews, followed by a hybrid-format session on How to Conduct Systematic Reviews. To round off the initial phase, our staple workshop on Essentials of Clinical Trials was offered, ensuring participants gained critical knowledge on clinical research methodologies.

The focus then shifted to Data Collection, a vital component of research accuracy and quality. Under this theme, we presented a series of interactive workshops covering: Qualitative Research: When to Use It and How to Conduct It; Arabic Psychometric Scales in Research: Methods of Cultural and Linguistic Adaptation; Using Hospital Records for Research; and Questionnaire Development and Administration.

The theme culminated in a highly successful collaboration with the Center for Research on Population and Health (CRPH), featuring a hands-on workshop on Digital Data Collection Tools: KoBoToolbox and LimeSurvey. Additionally, this partnership enabled us to deliver the much-appreciated workshop on Grant Writing for Health Research, empowering participants to secure funding for impactful studies.

Further strengthening our cross-campus collaborations, we joined forces with the Center for Public Health Practice (CPHP) to offer Evidence for Action: A Hands-On Approach to Implementation Research. This workshop provided practical skills to translate research findings into actionable health policies and programs.
