Advanced Technology
Under the direction of Dr. El-Hajj Fuleihan, the Calcium Metabolism and Osteoporosis Program Bone Densitometry Unit offers state-of-the-art densitometry and advanced technology. This includes trabecular bone score measurement, hip structural analysis, body composition, and visceral fat assessment.
The Calcium Metabolism and Osteoporosis Program Bone Densitometry Unit at AUBMC recently became the FIRST and ONLY ISCD accredited facility outside the United States. Moreover, it is the only center in Lebanon and the region in which both faculty and technicians are certified by the ISCD since 2007, and continuously recertified since. It abides by the most rigorous quality assurance standards and provides over 3,000 bone density scans per year for clinical and research purposes.
Bone density and body composition measurements that fulfill the highest international standards in our program, are an integral asset of our program’s clinical and research operations, distinguishing it as a unique regional center of excellence.
