Endocrine COre REsearch laboratory

The Endocrine COre REsearch laboratory (ECORE) was established in 1970 under the leadership of late Dr Nagib Abu Haidar, and current Endocrine Division Head, Professor Ibrahim Salti. ECORE operates within the Endocrine Division of the Department of Internal Medicine, at the American University of Beirut Medical Center. It was the reference laboratory for the performance of all endocrine assays performed at the American University of Beirut until 2008, at which time tests were gradually transitioned to the Clinical Chemistry Laboratory. The ECORE provides specialized hormonal and biochemical quantitative tests for both diagnostic and investigative research purposes, implemented across the American University of Beirut. ECORE is accredited by the Vitamin D External Quality Assessment Scheme (DEQAS). ECORE is a participant in the Center for Disease Control Vitamin D Standardization Program (CDC-VDSP), and is in part supported by funding from the Office of Dietary Supplements at the National Institutes of Health. The laboratory is equipped  with state of the art medical instruments and is staffed by highly experienced laboratory technologists. Below is a comprehensive list of routine and specialized endocrine tests performed in the ECORE. Tests for AUB funded research and investigator-initiated protocols are provided at reduced rates.

ECORE Lab have successfully met the established CDC Accuracy-based Monitoring Programs (CDC AMP) criteria for the year 2019-2022.
