Designation
The Program's outstanding achievements in clinical care, research, and education in disorders of calcium and bone metabolism, led to the coveted designation by the World Health Organization as a “WHO Collaborating Center (WHO-CC) for Osteoporosis and Metabolic Bone Disorders” in 2010 and the redesignation in 2014, and in 2020, and again in 2026.

General Scope
Support WHO’s work in gathering and reviewing scientific evidence on the prevalence and risk factors of osteoporosis disease burden.
Support WHO in generating more evidence about Vitamin D impact on musculoskeletal outcomes and determine the vitamin D dose response.
Support WHO’s capacity building activities that can be adopted or adapted across countries.

Activity Title: At WHO's request, support WHO in gathering evidence on osteoporosis disease burden in the EMR by conducting a systematic review.
Type of Activity: Collection and collation of information.
Activity Title: At WHO’s request, Support WHO in generating evidence about Vitamin D impact on musculoskeletal outcomes and inform WHO’s work, when determining the vitamin D dose response in the EM region, through systematic reviews and meta-analyses
