Pulmonary Physiology Laboratory

The Pulmonary Function Test Laboratory is the service unit within the Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine. Since its foundation, the laboratory strived to maintain a leadership role in providing the most up-to-date diagnostic procedures. It is dedicated to the consistent provision of high quality care in the most efficient and professional manner. The laboratory offers a variety of pulmonary function and Allergy tests to assess lung function and monitor progress of treatment. These tests include:

Dynamic Lung Volume Flow Rates:

  • Forced Expiratory Volume In One Second (FEV1)
  • Forced Vital Capacity (FVC)
  • Expiratory Flow Rate (FEF25-75%)
  • Peak Flow Rate (PEFmax)
  • Inspiratory Capacity (IC)
  • Flow Volume Loop

Static Lung Volumes Capacities:

  • Functional Residual Capacity (FRC)
  • Total Lung Capacity (TLC)
  • Expiratory Reserve Volume (ERV)
  • Residual Volume (RV)

Lung Oxygen Exchange:

  • Diffusing Capacity of Oxygen (DCO)
  • Diffusion Capacity of Oxygen / Corrected

Lung Mechanics:

  • Maximal Inspiratory Pressure (MIP)
  • Maximal Expiratory Pressure (MEP)
  • Maximal Voluntary Ventilation (MVV)
  • Airway Resistance Raw (ARR)
  • Lung Compliance

Functional Physiologic Testing:

  • Cardio-Pulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET)
  • 6 Minutes walk Testing (6MWT)

Asthma & Allergy Testing/Therapy:

  • Methadoline Broncho-Challenge Testing
