  Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut is a teaching-centered research university based on the American liberal arts model of higher education. AUB has over 8,000 students and 800 faculty members. The University encourages freedom of thought and expression and seeks to graduate men and women committed to creative and critical thinking, lifelong learning, personal integrity, civic responsibility, and leadership.

  AUB is accredited in the US by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and includes six faculties: Arts and Sciences, Medicine, Engineering and Architecture, Agricultural and Food Sciences, Health Sciences, and Business. AUB offers more than 130 programs leading to bachelor's, master's, MD, and PhD degrees. The main language of instruction is English.

Message from the Assistant Dean

Dear current and prospective medical students,

The Faculty of Medicine at the American University of Beirut offers multiple services and resources to medical students related to student life and you will find a description of these services here. One of our main goals is to ensure that all medical students will enjoy a very favorable learning climate that will enhance their medical education and will later contribute to their life-long learning. This is achieved through the work of all the staff at the office who are dedicated to providing professional services in a courteous and friendly atmosphere.

Being a medical student is an exciting experience, albeit daunting at first. With the help of our team, we hope you will make the most of your time as a member of the AUB-FM community, in order to fulfill AUB’s ultimate goal, “that they may have life, and have it more abundantly”.
