Clinical Microbiology (CM) encompasses several disciplines including Bacteriology, Mycobacteriology, Mycology, Parasitology, Virology, and Serology. The overall objective of these disciplines is to provide rapid and reliable Clinical Laboratory services that are helpful in diagnosing and treating patients with different infectious etiologies, taking into consideration the clinical relevance and cost-effective value of the tests performed. The CM sections apply strict quality control to ensure
the reliability of released results and are also enrolled in an international proficiency testing program and have been accredited by the College of American Pathologists since 2004. Moreover, this CM division is involved in continuing education, training of senior medical technologists, PLM residents, ID fellows and supports other personnel interested in training and research.
