A new initiative at the Department of Psychiatry
Because mental illness is on the rise in the Arab region
Because wars, instabilities, economic crises contribute heavily to the phenomenon
Because we have little human resources to meet the needs
Because it becomes important for all healthcare providers to develop their psychological and psychiatric knowledge and skills
The Department of Psychiatry created the Mental Health Academy .
MHA is a continuous education entity offering contextualized, culturally sensitive, rigorous training modules and programs.
MHA addresses mental health professionals and other healthcare professionals, as well as stakeholders from Lebanon and the Arab region.
MHA speakers and trainers are professors and clinicians of the department of psychiatry, local and international experts in the field.
The MHA teaching approach is anchored in adult pedagogy. It follows a participatory approach where knowledge and skills are intertwined valuing the trainee background experience and enriching her/his professional path. MHA offers independent modules and programs (series of modules). Candidates may elect to register to a full program or to a specific module within the program.
The MHA teaching contents values multidisciplinary approaches while respecting the specificity of each professional and the ethical boundaries of each profession.
