AUB MD graduates may apply to GME residency programs at AUBMC if they meet the following criteria:
- Have passed USMLE Step 1 or its equivalent, the International Foundations of Medicine – Basic Science Examination (IFOM BSE).
- Have satisfactorily passed USMLE Step 2 CK or its equivalent, the IFOM Clinical Science Examination (IFOM CSE).
II. Examination Requirements & Dates
1. Basic Science Examination
Applicants must demonstrate proficiency by meeting the minimum score in one of the following exams:

Notes
- Applicants may take the IFOM CSE more than once a year, with at least a 3-month gap between attempts.
- Competitive scores on IFOM CSE or USMLE Step 2 CK may result in interview invitations for one or two programs.
- Detailed exam instructions and location information will be sent by email at least 3 days before the exam.

III. Online Application
1. Application and Required Documents
Applicants must complete the online application between November 3 and November 21, 2025 and upload the following documents:
- Copy of valid ID
- Passport copy
- U.S. Social Security Number (if applicable)
- Passport-sized photo
- Updated CV
- Certified copy of MD diploma with original university seal(s) or Dean’s Letter (if degree not yet issued)
- Certified copy of medical school transcript
- Copy of Lebanese Ministry of Public Health medical license (if applicable and only for Lebanese citizens)
- Official ECFMG score report (USMLE Step 1 and/or Step 2 CK, if applicable)
- IFOM BSE and/or CSE score reports (if already taken)
- Application fee: $100, payable by credit card at the end of the application
Deadline to upload any pending documents or exam scores: January 8, 2026
Additional Notes
- Applicants using USMLE scores must request the official transcript via ECFMG (Form 172), to be sent directly to the GME Office by January 8, 2026.
- Please retain original documents until asked by the GME Office to submit them in person or via courier.
- Some residency programs (e.g., Emergency Medicine, Neurology, Psychiatry) require a personal statement. Do not upload this to the application. Submit by email only if called for an interview.
2. Application Choices
- Each applicant may select two programs.
- The first paid application is considered your first choice.
- To apply for a second choice, submit a separate application (no additional payment required).
- Programs are blinded to applicant choices.
- If accepted into both choices, the applicant will be assigned to the first choice and withdrawn from the second.
- The system limits each applicant to two submissions only. Any attempt to submit a third application will be disregarded.
- No changes to program choices are allowed after submission.
3. Application Process
- After submission, the GME Office will review applications for completeness and eligibility.
- Incomplete or ineligible applications will be rejected. Application fees are non-refundable.
- Eligible applications will be forwarded to the relevant programs.
- Some applicants may be invited for interviews (1–2 programs); not all eligible candidates will be interviewed.
- Certain programs may require clinical examinations supervised by faculty (e.g., OSCEs).
- Applicants who accept a position but later withdraw will not be eligible to reapply to any GME program at AUB.
