GME Professional Development

The Graduate Medical Education (GME) Office at AUBFM is pleased to announce its 1st Series of Medical Education Grand Rounds, planned and organized in partnership with the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine. This series is designed to promote faculty development, a core requirement of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-International (ACGME-I) Foundational Requirements, and support the lifelong growth of educators, education scholars, and education leaders.

This CME Category 1 program ties into the ACGME Clinician-Educator (CE) Milestones, and will feature interactive grand round sessions, twice per month, led by local, regional, and international subject matter experts in medical education. It will cover various topics including curriculum development, teaching and learning, assessment, leadership, and research. Sessions will be moderated by distinguished faculty members from diverse specialties at AUBFM, offering a rich, multidisciplinary perspective tailored to the topic.

Through this program, we aim to cultivate a vibrant GME Community of Practice, where faculty members and program leaders come together regularly during the series, to engage, collaborate, and refine their expertise as clinicians-educators. Attendees will receive their CME certificates within one month of attending and completing the event evaluation form.

Target Audience: This program is primarily intended for physicians and faculty members across all clinical specialties, at AUBFM, as well as local, regional, and international levels. The GME Office strongly encourages the participation of GME program coordinators, who are vital members of the education leadership team and critical to the success of their programs. Additionally, this forum is open to clinical trainees who are interested in enhancing their profiles as educators.

Series Learning Objectives: At the end of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Develop advanced skills as clinician-educators by learning innovative strategies in teaching, evaluation, assessment, and feedback within medical education
  • Integrate artificial intelligence and cutting-edge technologies into educational practices to enhance medical training and improve learner outcomes
  • Engage with peers and experts in interactive discussions that address challenges in curriculum development, learner assessment, and faculty development in medical education
  • Strengthen their roles as clinician-educators by exploring and implementing best practices in medical education, ultimately contributing to the advancement of healthcare education and training
