The increasing needs and requirements in medical education that have emerged over the past few decades, the necessity for central oversight and coordination of educational activities, the growth of scholarship in medical education and the emergence of medical education as a career option for faculty members lead to the establishment of The Program for Research and Innovation in Medical Education (PRIME) at the AUBFM in 2012, as the custodian of research and development programs within the Faculty. PRIME is established as a program to keep up with global standards of medical education through reviewing the current curriculum, recommending and implementing innovative teaching and assessment methods, evaluating educational program as well as promoting professional development.
