Real-Time PCR System CFX96 Thermal Cycler Bio-Rad (CIDR)

Droplet Digital PCR QX200

We are proud to introduce our newest addition to the Faculty of Medicine’s genetics research repertoire: the Droplet Digital PCR QX200 from Bio-Rad. Droplet Digital PCR (ddPCR) provides absolute quantification of DNA and RNA without the use of standard curves. PCR becomes digital through sample partitioning and the subsequent statistical analysis of target detection across the partitions. The QX200 system uses advanced microfluidics technologies to achieve partitioning of a reaction on a massive scale. With its high sensitivity, the QX200 system can easily scale to quantify target concentrations of one out of 1,000,000 (0.0001%) total copies. What was easily undetectable with other methods can now be quantified with droplet digital PCR. The QX200 expands our mutation and expression detection capabilities beyond conventional and quantitative PCR. It is yet another valuable tool for our researchers in their search for cancer biomarkers, infectious disease, genomic alterations and gene expression.
