Capital Budget Process
In addition to the daily operations of the university, major capital projects and equipment acquisitions are required periodically to fulfill the mission of the university and the business units that comprise it. Such requirements are funded through the annual Capital Budget which is approved each year by the Board of Trustees during their March meeting.
The Capital Budget is ultimately approved each year by the Budget Committee of the Board of Trustees along with the Full Board of Trustees upon the recommendation of the university's President. Prior to the president's final recommendation, deans and other area managers work with the senior administration to arrive at the best allocation of available capital resources.
Capital Budget Requests
All capital budget requests are first directed to the relevant dean or area manager. The below table summarizes who is responsible for initial screening of all capital budget requests. This does not necessarily apply, however, to the AUBMC or the Faculty of Medicine, whose budgeting process is administered by the AUBMC finance team.
