GHI and QMU NIHR Scholarships for Doctoral Studies

​​​​​The Global Health Institute (GHI) at the American University of Beirut, in collaboration with the Institute for Global Health and Development at Queen Margaret University (QMU), is pleased to offer two doctoral scholarships at QMU.

The prospective students should be available to initiate their doctoral training starting January 2018 (through December 2020). Doctoral research training will be based in the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Research Unit on Health in Fragility at QMU with extensive field work with GHI. The research unit has a strategic partnership with AUB’s GHI focused on identifying sources of resilience within formal health systems and local community processes to facilitate effective provision of health priorities – particularly mental health and non-communicable diseases – in situations of fragility.
Interested candidates need to submit the application form​ and all relevant paperwork to GHI ( and QMU ( by September 27th, 2017. Given the requirements of the proposed fieldwork, candidates should be able to demonstrate expertise, interest and qualification in mental health/non-communicable diseases areas and strong language skills in Arabic.​​
