Global Health Diplomacy Workshop

Date: November 8-10, 2017
Location: College Hall B1, American University of Beirut, Lebanon
Organizers: GHI Academy in partnership with the Graduate Institute of Geneva Global Health Centre

As the dynamics of health become more complex in an era of protracted crises and conflict, health has become an integral part of foreign policy. New skills are needed to negotiate global regimes, international partnerships, collaborations, and agreements on health, as well as maintain relations with different stakeholders across countries. This Global Health Diplomacy Workshop organized by the Global Health Institute Academy in partnership with the Graduate Institute of Geneva Global Health Centre focuses on health diplomacy and its interface with health issues that go beyond the national boundaries. It emphasizes on emerging regional health needs that necessitate collaborations among various stakeholders at different levels of governance to be addressed effectively through cross-border, collective solutions.

The workshop is highly participatory and draws on the regional and international professional experiences of the facilitators and speakers. It includes lectures by internationally-renowned experts in the field of global health diplomacy, multi-stakeholder panels, and working groups. An evening negotiation on health simulation exercise will complement the learning experience.
