March 2017 | International Growth and Development ConferenceDr. Nahla Hwalla participated as an invited speaker in the International Growth and Development (IGD) Conference that was held on March 16-18, 2017 in Dubai, UAE. She presented a lecture on “Overfed and Undernourished in the Middle East", and chaired a workshop on “Programmes to Promote Healthy Diets and Lifestyles in Children: What works and how to Amplify?"
March 2017 | Development of Voluntary Guidelines for the Sustainability of the Mediterranean Diet in the Mediterranean RegionDr. Nahla Hwalla participated in a technical workshop on the “Development of Voluntary Guidelines for the Sustainability of the Mediterranean Diet in the Mediterranean Region" held March 14-15, 2017 in Bari, Italy. The workshop was jointly organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and CIHEAM-Bari to advance efforts targeting the Mediterranean diet as a sustainable solution to improve food security and nutrition in the region.
February 2017 | Towards Improving Nutrition among Refugees in Lebanon: A Capacity Building Workshop.In collaboration with the Food Security Center at the University of Hohenheim, RHP and NORD conducted a training workshop that aimed to build capacity in nutrition for school teachers, health care professionals and social workers working with Syrian refugee children and youth within informal tented settlements and schools in the area of West Bekaa in Lebanon. The workshop involved lectures from various experts in the field of nutrition and food security from AUB as well as a senior researcher from the partnering institution. The workshop took place on February 3, 2017.
