This year, the Jafet Library, the AUB Writing Center, and the Graduate Council are working together to present a series of one-hour workshops to new and continuing graduate students.
The aim of the workshops is to introduce students to key concepts in research and academic writing, and to inform them about academic support available at AUB. Two workshops have been offered this fall.
The first workshop, “Getting Started on Graduate Research” addressed becoming familiar with library sources in your field; finding library references; integrating writing in research; structuring your paper; and planning your time for researching and writing.
The second workshop, “Getting Your Research Proposal Started” reviewed the process of writing a proposal; the most important elements that must be present in a research proposal; and how to conduct a review of literature in your field.
The workshop series will continue in the Spring semester with two more presentations: “What You Need to Know about Writing Your Thesis” and “After Your Thesis: Getting Published.”
