The American University of Beirut (AUB) successfully held its Sixth Open House for Graduate Studies on its campus on February 21, 2018.
The
grand event falls within the graduate recruitment strategy of the
university. Around 300 participants from local, regional and
international universities and companies seized this unique opportunity
and were introduced to all the aspects of graduate studies at AUB in an
effective and enjoyable setup. The event was also broadcasted via live
streaming (the recording of which is available at https://youtu.be/oWpsx3BCzR4 ).
Essentially,
the event consisted of a comprehensive presentation about AUB, its
comparative advantages (in terms of ranking, accreditations…), graduate
research and financial resources available for students (including PhD
fellowships, Master's graduate assistantships, scholarships and
financial aid grants), the campus and its professional and recreational
facilities...
Brief presentations by
individual faculties followed whereby program offerings, career
opportunities and impressive success stories were shared with the
audience.
Then, participants were invited to a
catered reception where they toured the informational booths set up by
all faculties and graduate support service providers (the Graduate
Council, Office of Admissions, Office of the Registrar, Office of
International Programs…). It was a remarkably vibrant forum for exchange
of information and experiences.
At
the booths, students had their program specific questions answered. They
also interacted with relevant staff and professors and peer students.
Participants
were particularly interested in the booths of the graduate scholarships
(by MasterCard Foundation and by Al Ghurair Foundation for Education).
They were also assisted by dedicated staff from the Graduate Council and
the Office of Admissions to create their admission applications on the
spot and “sur place". Non-AUB participants were particularly interested
in the booth of the University Preparatory Program providing information
about English proficiency support courses.
To
put it in a nutshell, in less than two hours and in a single place,
potential graduate students from AUB and other universities enjoyed the
beautiful campus and were familiarized with our Masters and PhD program
offerings, and the options available for them to finance their graduate
studies at AUB. They even created their admission applications and
subscribed for post-event activities!
