For the second time, Graduate Council (GC) held an orientation program with a time and format to help new graduate students get acquainted with graduate and academic life at AUB.
The event reflected the evolution of graduate affairs since GC's inception as it featured new student led organizations and organizations with whom it has collaborated to improve graduate life and academics
The two hour program started at 5:00 PM. The sign-in was QR code based which made it both convenient and tech-savvy. AUB Outlook, the student organized AUB newspaper, was also on-hand to cover the event.
The 40 minute presentation program included words of welcome by Dean Talal Nizameddin and Dr. Rabih Talhouk (Chairperson of Graduate Council) followed by informative presentations by Graduate Council, the Office of International Programs (OIP), AUB Libraries, the Writing Center (WrC), Graduate Student Society (GSS) and one of its new subcommittees, Graduate Student Life Team in the Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences (GSLT-AHSS). The talks were followed by an opportunity to meet the presenters and learn more about the activities and services offered.
The second half of the program consisted of a food & beverage reception where the presenters and students further conversed and networked. The program was found to be a helpful and friendly welcome to AUB's graduate community.
