The American University of Beirut offers numerous scholarships and financial aid to undergraduate and graduate students who are in good academic standing and financial need.  Students can benefit from the various types of financial support in the form of financial aid or bank loans. 

Need-based Financial Aid

Students can benefit from the various types of financial support in the form of financial aid or bank loans. New applicants with financial need are eligible to apply for financial aid. Only accepted students will be awarded. Priority is given to undergraduate students seeking a first degree. Full-time graduate students can be granted up to 20% financial aid. More information about the financial aid application is available on the Financial Aid website​.  

HSON Scholarship

Currently, the Hariri School of Nursing is offering 60% (financial aid + HSON scholarship) to new students who show commitment to nursing and who are in good academic standing. In addition, Lebanese students are eligible to request a 30% bank loan that can be paid back after graduation over a period of 10 years. Students can also apply for the Work Study Program to cover the remaining 10% of their tuition fees. 

Eligibility Criteria:

  • ​New students requesting the HSON scholarship should submit a financial aid ap​plication at the Office of Financial Aid
  • They should have good academic performance at their previous school/college
  • They will be interviewed by the Scholarship Committee in the month of May

The Scholarship Committee selects the awardees who will be notified by HSON before the confirmation deadline for enrollment.

Current students can apply for this scholarship online using the Online Petition​ Form System (OPFS)​

​Graduate Assistantships

The policies on graduate assistantships are currently under review and the below will be modified based on the new guidelines and policy.

Graduate students can benefit from a graduate assistantship (GA) that covers partially or fully their tuition fees, in return for a specific number or working hours. GA recipients are selected based on their academic status and departmental needs. Applications for GAs are available at the Online Graduate Application under Financial Aid section.

CurrentlY, registered graduate students can submit a GA application form to the Students Services Office before the following deadlines: 

  • Beginning of April for the fall term
  • End of October for the spring term
