Continuing Education Offerings for Registered Nurses & Allied Health Professionals

School of Nursing and in accordance with AUB’s mission, has served and is still serving Lebanon and the Middle East by producing successive generations of leaders and high quality professionals in nursing. The School’s activities encompass working with governmental and non-governmental organizations on continuing education projects pertaining to nursing and other healthcare professionals. This partnership has been successful in offering workshops and consultancies for the country and the region.

Courses/training workshops offered by Hariri School of Nursing:

  • Accreditation and Risk Management training program introduces the two subjects that are attracting a great deal of attention in the healthcare field these days to promote safer healthcare practices.
  • Patients Relations training program presents various strategies used for building and maintaining a successful relation with patients who represent the main stakeholders of
    a healthcare agency.
  • Quality Management and Utilization Review focuses on practical methods of improving quality in health care organizations and addresses strategies for implementing quality management initiatives based on world best practice.
  • Infection Control and Management addresses prevention of infection as a major focus of nursing. It highlights the role of the nurse in identifying, preventing, controlling, and educating patients and  others about infection.
  • Geriatric Nursing addresses the most important aspects relevant to the care of elderly clients.
  • Pediatric  Nursing addresses the most important aspects relevant to the healthcare of pediatric population.
  • Cardiovascular Nursing enhances the nurses’ knowledge in assessing, diagnosing, managing and evaluating care pertinent to cardiovascular clients.
  • Evidence- Based Practices in Maternity Care tackles evidence-based nursing practices of the antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, breastfeeding and newborn client.
  • Continuing Nursing Education provides an overview for nurse educators who are interested in designing and implementing simulations in continuing nursing education as a teaching-learning intervention and/or evaluation strategy in the curriculum.
  • Health Care Ethics addresses ethical concepts and issues relevant to the practice of nursing and to nursing research.
  • Development of Policies and Procedures addresses P & P designed by an organization to reach its long-term goals to influence all major decisions that take place within the boundaries set by them.
  • Human Resource Management addresses the health care system in relation to the importance of human resources management (HRM) in improving overall patient health outcomes and delivery of health care services.

Additional offerings:

The American University of Beirut through its School of Nursing (SON) and Clinical Professional Development Center (CPDC) offer courses and training workshops to healthcare professionals in the Middle East and the region. Moreover, Life Support courses are offered by the CPDC where certificates granted by the American Heart Association are distributed to the healthcare professionals.

“The Clinical and Professional Development Center hosts a variety of in-service and continuing education offerings that target nurses working at AUBMC, Lebanon and the region. These programs aim at assisting nurses and healthcare providers to transition from being a student to a novice level and novice to expert level of practice. Additionally, these offerings help nurses develop their knowledge and skill base to be able to provide high quality care and advance the profession in the country and the region.”
