Communications Assistant - Publications and Events

The Communications Assistant – Publications and Events will be in charge of managing the process of dissemination of IFI publications and providing support in the organization of events, as well as assisting in managing, updating and maintaining IFI's website and other digital platforms.

Deadline: Oct 28, 2022

  • Main Responsibilities
  1. Managing the publication dissemination process, including publication design and creating related visuals
  2. Tracking IFI's publications pipeline, updating the publication list offline and online and updating the publications page on IFI's website
  3. Following up with freelancers and suppliers on publication-related deliverables based on pre-approved deadlines
  4. Supporting in the organization of events at IFI (inc. logistics, setup, event coverage, etc.)
  5. Supporting the implementation of IFI's communications and digital media strategy across online media platforms
  6. Providing support and backup as needed on social media postings
  7. Staying up to date on communications and digital publishing standards and trends and suggesting their implementation to the Communications team
  8. Attending and covering IFI events as applicable
  9. Supporting in the compilation and archiving of photos, videos, media coverage and documentation of IFI events and activities
  10. Updating IFI's internal SharePoint system
  11. Updating databases and media lists
  12. Assisting the Communications Manager in IFI media monitoring
  13. Assisting the Communications Manager in other relevant tasks, including providing administrative support when necessary

Required Skills

  1. Proficiency with graphic design software (e.g. Canva or similar tools)
  2. Experience with content management system platforms (e.g. WordPress, Webly)
  3. Experience in email marketing platforms (e.g., Benchmark or similar tools)
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  5. Experience in producing/editing video content is a plus
  6. Detail oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills
  7. Team-oriented, problem solver, with strong interpersonal skills
  8. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced working environment
  9. Ability to be pro-active and work with minimal supervision on certain tasks

  • Qualifications

  1. BA in media studies, journalism, communications or related fields
  2. Minimum of two years of experience in communications and digital media, in a publishing or media outlet, university or NGO
  3. Fluency in English and Arabic (verbal and written) is required. French is a plus
