University and Associate Fellows constitute the intellectual network of academics, researchers, professionals, and practitioners, that gravitate around the Institute, contributing to its work, knowledge production and activities. University Fellows are those belonging to various departments, faculties and units of our university. University Fellows not only contribute in expanding and enriching the Institute's knowledge production and intellectual life, but highlight the organic link between our Institute and the American University of Beirut. Meanwhile, Associate Fellows are either resident or non-resident, while maintaining full professional affiliation to their respective institutions.
Fellows are associated to the Institute on a voluntary basis, the specific conditions of which are decided between the Fellow and the Institute. The selection process of fellows happens according to their specific research interests and ability to drive their knowledge into the space of politics, policy, and dialogue. The main idea behind the program is to have a group of fellows with distinct professional backgrounds that can support the Institute in immediately responding to and addressing key developments impacting the region and the country. Fellows are invited to be part of our network of experts, based on thematic interest and needs, in line with the Institute's vision and development strategy, and with the final approval by the Director.
The Institute has over 27 fellows who help steer the Institutes’ research and policy objectives. The fellows participate in conferences, debates, and dialogues, partake in the knowledge production related to grants, publish policy briefs, analysis, research reports, and link the Institute to the wider network of experts, researchers, and policy makers who are involved in tackling real life matters under various sectors. They carry with them years of teaching, research, and work experience in relation to the cluster topics highlighted above.
