In memory of the Lebanese Civil War
The Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs (IFI) at the American University of Beirut invites you to read the policy brief titled “Truth, Dignity, and Justice – The Case of The Missing and Forcibly Disappeared in Lebanon” by Alexi Touma and Mira Zaghbour, Civil Society Actors and Policy Making at IFI.
While decades of activism have led the cause of the missing and forcibly disappeared to reach a turning point when parliament passed Law 105 in 2018, the contents of the law remain to be actualized. There is much to be done at the legal, political, and social levels to activate an effective National Commission of Inquiry. The brief covers the gaps and the mentioned requirements.
