The Lancet-AUB Commission on Syria: Health in Conflict is hosted at and led by the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) at the American University of Beirut (AUB).

Three Co-Chairs lead the LCS:

    • Samer Jabbour: Professor of Public Health Practice at FHS/AUB who also serves as Commission Convener
    • Jennifer Leaning: Professor, Harvard School of Public Health; Senior Fellow & Former Director, FXB Center for Health and Human Rights, Harvard University
    • Iman Nuwayhid, Professor and former Dean of FHS/AUB
The Commission is global and multidisciplinary. Commissioners include thought-leaders, academics, researchers and practitioners.

The Commission has six Thematic Groups which include, in addition to Commissioners, external experts and researchers to enrich the work.

An International Secretariat, based at FHS/AUB, comprising a Research and Documentation Team (RDT) and an Administrative & IT team, runs the day-to-day work.

The Commission is supported by several centers at AUB and collaborates with global centers with expertise in specific issues of interest. The Commission engages a regional and global network of experts and convenes consultations with stakeholders to broaden its reach and collaboration and to inform and support its work.

A number of graduate students at the American University of Beirut and other institutions support the Commission's Secretariat as research volunteers and as members of the administrative team.
